Jesus Makes Me a Better Mom

Spread the love

You know what makes me a better mom? (And no, it’s not the coffee.)

It’s Jesus.

It’s the strength He gives me when I’m low on energy or my kids are testing my patience. The strength I need just to make it through the day as I’m counting down the minutes to 5 o’clock when my husband will walk through that door.

It’s the rest He provides when I’m exhausted. Whether it’s night terrors from a toddler or a teething baby, this mama needs her rest and He sure delivers.

It’s the peace He washes over me when I’m filled with worry. And let’s be honest, mamas know how to worry. We’re pros at that.

It’s the grace He offers to me as I make yet another mistake. Every time I snap at my kids or I begin to feel guilty for my ability as a mother, He’s there serving up some grace to me. And it’s that grace that helps me then extend it to my kids.

It’s the contentment I feel when I remember to “be still” and to just be satisfied and grateful. Grateful I get this life, with this family. Grateful for yet another day that I get with air in my lungs.

It’s the gratitude I feel towards Him when I watch my kids playing together. It’s the realization that I am so incredibly blessed that I get to be those cute kids’ mom and what an honor it is.

It’s a blessing – all of it.

And He’s there to remind me of that. Whether I’m at the dishwasher, the laundry machine, or cozying up with my Bible – I can unload all of the difficulties of the day and all of the weight of motherhood. I can give it over to the One who can carry the load of it for me.

So that I can get up and do it all over again tomorrow.

Because Jesus makes me a better mom.
