Just as a Mother Comforts Her Child

Spread the love

Jesus found this anxious mama next to the crib today.

I was an mess that morning, filled with anxiety. I was not having a great day and I was letting my mind get the best of me. It was on a tangent and I needed peace for my anxiety.

My daughter needed some peace, too. She was having a rough morning. She had a tooth bothering her and she had woken up too early from her nap. She was a sobbing mess; nose running and her eyes soaked in tears. I picked her up from her crib and I just held her.

That girl just melted into me.

I could feel the relief entering her body. Her breathing slowed down and her tears ceased. She put her arms around me and let me cuddle her right there, rocking her in my arms.

She was at immediate peace in my arms.

And as I was there, feeling my little girl at peace, I prayed to Jesus to fill me with peace as well. He wrapped His arms around me – the same way I had just wrapped up my own little girl – and He held me. He held both of us in that moment.

Mama, your little one is comforted by your arms. They’re at peace whenever you are holding them. They are comforted by you and you calm their fears immediately. It’s an instinctual thing we possess as mothers; when a newborn cries, we pick them up and hold them in our arms. That’s just what we do.

Well, just as our children feel at peace in our arms, you receive that peace from the Prince of Peace. Just as you comfort your children, He comforts you.

So, take all of the worries, fears, and anxieties to Jesus.

Because His arms are wide open and ready for you – always.
