Depression is a Darkness

Spread the love

Darkness.

That’s what depression feels like.

It’s a cloud that is hovering over you. It’s a darkness that is heavy.

It’s dark.

It’s hopeless.

It’s not seeing an end in sight.

It’s not seeing the light.

But the Light is still there. A cloud may have tried to cover it, but the Light has never left.

Not once.

Jesus is the light of the world (John 8:12).

Jesus is our hope in this world.

Jesus is still there.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

The light will not be overcome.

The dark cloud may feel heavy, but the Light is never cast out.

It can’t be overcome.

Depression may feel like it’ll never end but it will, my friend.

Whether it’s a season of heartache that you’re going through, or hormones that are at work against you. Whether it is postpartum depression or the result of some trauma you have experienced–depression does not get to win. Don’t let it.

(And there is no shame in seeking the help of a professional. Jesus heals through medicine and therapists every day.)

So, turn to Him, my friend.

His light is bright enough to shine through the clouds.

He is there.

Don’t give up.

The light will always outshine the darkness.

Always.
