Contentment – It’s What I’m After These Days
Contentment–it’s what I’m after these days.
I’ll be honest, I struggle with always wanting and striving for more. Before I became a stay-at-home mom, I was constantly seeking the next promotion; never satisfied with the position I was in.
When I do a house project, I’m always like, “Okay, what’s next?”
When I’ve bought a new book, I’m seeking the next one to read after that.
When I’ve bought a new shirt, it’s then a question of, “What goes with this?” to make it an outfit.
When I’ve reached a goal or accomplished a dream, I never really savor the moment and I’m already making plans for the next thing.
More. More. More.
And it’s exhausting. Not to mention, it’s not how Jesus wants me to live.
Our friend, Paul, writes in Philippians 4:11-13, “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Content in all circumstances and I can do all of it through Him who gives me strength.
What I need more of: Jesus.
So, friend, if you are like me and you find yourself always needing or wanting more, He’s what I’m chasing after. He’s what I’m seeking more of in my life.
Will join me in chasing after Him? Will you seek contentment with me?
