Children Are a Gift From God

Spread the love

Children are a gift from God.

It’s sometimes hard to remember, isn’t it?

When you’re deep in the trenches of motherhood, it’s easy to forget those little people God has placed in our lives are a gift.

When you’re buried in diapers and exhausted because either someone is teething or someone is having night terrors at 1:00 a.m.; you just want to get through it all and live.

When your whole house is baby-proofed and you can’t have the nice, Pinterest looking home you want; you forget that one day you’ll long to have toys all over the floor and the sound of children playing.

When you’re consumed by laundry from diaper blowouts to adventures in the mud that destroy those new shorts you just bought; you forget to be grateful for it all.

But then God reminds you . . .

When you see your children playing together, sharing their toys or laughing and chasing each other around the house.

You remember.

When you get that random hug and that wet kiss followed by a “I love you, Mommy.”

You remember.

When you peek into their bedrooms or get a glimpse of them sleeping through that baby monitor and you see how peaceful they look; they’re little faces all angelic and sweet as their eyes are fluttering full of dreams.

You remember.

They’re a gift. It’s all a gift.

A gift straight from God, Himself.

Doesn’t mean the sleep exhaustion, toddler tantrums, and that the days go by easily (and some days are easier than others). It just means that we’ve been blessed by God. He picked us as their mother and He’s gifted those babies to us.

They are the most precious gift that I’ll ever receive from God . . . and I never want to take them for granted.

“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” – Psalm 127:3
