She is Strong Because of Her Father

Spread the love

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” (Proverbs 31:25 NLT)

It’s the verse for this blog, so it obviously means something to me. But I gotta tell ya, I don’t always feel like I live up to it.

Strength? I usually fall short and I feel weak most days.

Dignity? It’s hard to feel dignified when most days you wear no make-up and adorn the mom-type attire (you know, t-shirt and leggings).

Fear of the future? Well, yeah, I’m filled with that. I’m a mom, isn’t that what we do? I certainly don’t laugh at it. That seems impossible when you live in a pandemic world. The Bible mentions fear and specifically the term “fear not” hundreds of times, so I know it’s a point that God is trying to make.

There are many other verses that mention strength in the Bible:

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.” Isaiah 41:10

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26

And I could go on and on . . .

But in the few I just shared, there is one commonality: God is the source of strength.

So, let’s look again at that verse that we all know and love so much, but in a different translation: “Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come.” (CSB)

ARE her clothing.

She didn’t wake up in the morning and was already dressed with it.

She wasn’t born that way.

She’s not this perfect being.

She’s a woman who finds her strength and dignity from the Lord. He clothes her with it and that is why she can smile without fear.

God is the one who is strong and He can place that strength upon her.

So, if you’re like me and you’ve always wanted to be that Proverbs 31 woman, just know that you don’t have to always be strong.

You just have to turn to His presence and He’ll provide that strength that you need.

You’re not weak because your Father makes you strong.
