Pray About Everything
I’m a mom who lays awake all night with worry.
Most nights, I couldn’t even tell you what’s going on in this head of mine. The thoughts just bounce off of one another like one of those bouncy balls. As soon as my head hits that pillow, it’s like my anxiety says, “Okay, let’s get started!”
Worries about war and the state of the world.
Worries about my kids and their development.
Worries about my kids and the influences of this scary world.
Worries about the safety of my children.
Worries, worries, worries, all piling up on top of one another.
Then I remember Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
I don’t know what tomorrow holds.
But Jesus does.
I don’t know how my kids will turn out.
But Jesus does.
I don’t know what will happen in this world tomorrow or the next day.
But Jesus does.
And so, while my anxiety tells me to worry about, well, everything . . . I know that my job is to pray about everything.
