Motherhood is a Mess Full of Memories
Let me tell ya, motherhood is one big mess.
There’s toys strung about the house and nothing has a home.
There’s crumbs on the floor and food smeared on the furniture.
There’s books piled every which way and blankets laying about.
There’s dining room chairs in the living room and toys in the dining room.
(There’s even a training potty in the middle of the living room. I’d love to say we’re close to being potty trained, but really, my toddler was using it as a chair. )
And there’s laundry baskets with clothes lying about that need to be folded and dishes piled in the sink.
So yeah, to say that motherhood is messy is a bit of an understatement.
But you know what? That mess is full of memories.
Those dining room chairs and blankets have built a fort with all of our favorite stuffed animals to join the party.
Those crumbs and food smears are from eating snacks while watching Disney movies and reliving my own childhood.
Those books have been read over and over (and over) again and have expanded my children’s knowledge and imagination.
That laundry and those dishes are piled up because I’m a mom who is making memories with her children instead of worrying about the presentation of her house.
Yes, motherhood is messy but it’s a mess full of beautiful memories.
God bless this mess and I’m grateful for it.
